Best Fourth of July Road Trips

Fourth of July is one of the most popular holidays in the States and there are thousands of people going on road trips during the holidays. To make things easier, we've come up with a list of some of the best places across the country that offer spectacular fireworks.
If you are looking for that perfect place for the Fourth of July road trip, Honolulu in Hawaii is definitely worth visiting. It is estimated that there will be thousands of people attending the fireworks along the shores of Waikiki and from the Ala Moana Center which is one of the biggest open-air centers in the country with nearly 300 restaurants and shops. You will also get a chance to see live music performances in the center from early afternoon and there are a bunch of discounts over the weekend. For best views of the 4th of July fireworks go to the Ala Moana Beach Park.
The holiday celebrations in Philadelphia take place around the Liberty Bell and the Independence Hall. In the morning, there is a march that features flags and bands, while live performances are held at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in the afternoon. In the evenings, go in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art where there are even more concerts which are followed by spectacular fireworks. If you are staying for a couple of days in Philly, check out some of the touristy places like the Betsy Ross House and the Independence Hall.
Lake Powell, Utah
Lake Powell is one of those places where people go to relax and have some peace and quiet. If you are in the mood for a carefree 4th of July type of experience, you should consider spending the weekend at this gorgeous lake. There is plenty to do here including a number of water sports like tubing and boating. Phoenix and Vegas are both just a short drive away in case you want to go see some amazing fireworks in the evening.
Wilmington, North Carolina
The riverfront in Wilmington, North Carolina is quite a popular spot for both locals and tourists who want to see large fireworks. Keep in mind that the traffic is busy during the 4th of July celebrations, but you can also watch the fireworks for downtown Wilmington. The Water Street gets packed by local vendors and there are concerts throughout the day and in the evening. The show starts at 9 pm sharp and locals suggest going to the Coastline Conference and Event Center or to Elijah's for best fireworks views.
Marblehead in Massachusetts is famous for hosting huge 4th of July celebrations with food vendors, art performances, and live music. You should expect plenty of traffic and large crowds of people, but the fireworks you'll see are amazing and definitely worth the trip. The fireworks are launched at 9 PM when the red flares signal all visitors to go to their seats. The Chandler Hovey Park is one of the best places in Marblehead to see the fireworks over the Marblehead Light Tower. You can also consider going to Fort Sewall or Crocker Park.
The annual parade on 4th of July at Yellowstone starts at 5 pm and includes live music and street performers entertaining the crowd. For best views of the fireworks that start at 10 PM bring a blanket and go to Yellowstone Avenue. Besides amazing fireworks, West Yellowstone offers plenty of things to do like visiting a barbecue joint, going to the IMAX theater to catch a movie, or checking out the amazing Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.
Las Vegas, Nevada
There are many people going to Las Vegas for 4th of July celebrations believe it or not. Most of the hotels offer affordable specials during the holidays probably because of the heat and this is why there are many people from all across the country staying in Vegas during this holiday. You can gamble, drink cocktails in air conditioned lounges, and see some of the finest fireworks in the country.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
There are thousands of people who will spread their blankets along the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and wait for the fireworks. The good news is that the celebration lasts from early in the morning with a local fare and live concerts. Besides amazing fireworks, locals recommend visiting some of the cool BBQ places here or going to the fishing village of Murrells Inlet which is just a short drive away.
St. Augustine, Florida
The annual fireworks in St. Augustine attract thousands of people and the locals say how this is the most visited event of the year. Take a walk to the historic downtown area and check out all the cute antique shops before the All-Star Orchestra's performance which starts at 6 pm. The fireworks begin at 9:30 pm and best spots can be found between the Bridge of Lions and the Castillo.
